Pupil Premium Funding

The Pupil Premium grant is additional funding provided to schools in England to help close the attainment gap that exists between disadvantaged students and their peers.

Each year secondary schools receive additional funding for each pupil registered as eligible for free school meals (FSM) in the last 6 years.  There is no expectation that schools should spend the grant only on eligible pupils, or on a per eligible pupil basis.  Some of the most effective spending will be on whole school strategies, including improving the quality of teaching, which have the potential to impact positively on all pupils.

The funding is allocated for schools to

  • Improve academic outcomes of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and help them to reach their potential.
  • Close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

A student is considered 'disadvantaged' and is entitled to the Pupil Premium if they are;

  • Eligible for Free Schools Meals (FSM) in the last six years; or
  • "Looked after" continuously for 1 day or more.
  • Adopted from care.

Free School Meals - you can find out if you are eligible to apply for Free School Meals  and apply using the application form below.

At Â鶹´«Ã½ we have used the funding to raise attainment through a variety of programmes and activities, We have identified, in the main, the following to be barriers for our disadvantaged students:

  • Attendance
  • Aspiration
  • Some low levels of literacy and numeracy on arrival in Year 7

We aim to secure excellent progress and attainment for those students who are eligible for the Pupil Premium funding.
